Projects
Junior League of San Angelo utilizes our community projects to help fulfill our vision to be catalysts of change within the Concho Valley community. JLSA has had many projects since our inception and is proud of our legacy. As the years go by, JLSA adopts new projects to fit the needs of our community.
P.A.C.K.
In the 2024–2025 year, the Junior League of San Angelo proudly distributed over 1,080 Personally Available Care Kits (P.A.C.K.s) and expanded the program into San Angelo ISD.
The P.A.C.K. program was developed following data collection during the 2021–2022 school year by our Project Research and Development Committee. A survey sent to 11 schools across the Concho Valley highlighted a significant need for hygiene support among students ages 12–18. The findings indicated that inadequate access to basic hygiene products not only affected physical well-being but also had a direct impact on school attendance, academic performance, and students’ mental and emotional health.
Among the initial nine participating schools, 67% reported a substantial need for hygiene items on their campuses. Most schools noted that both male and female students were affected, with a few indicating a particularly high need among female students. Frequently requested items include deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products.
Each kit is discreet, refillable, and belongs to the student. Schools are provided with literature outlining the program’s purpose, benefits, and access instructions to ensure students and administrators are fully informed.
We recognize that the success of this project would not be possible without the generous support of community partners who contribute funding, donations, and time. Together, we are working to ensure that no student misses educational opportunities due to a lack of basic personal care items.
Our continued goal is to reduce barriers to learning, promote dignity, and support student success across the Concho Valley—one P.A.C.K. at a time.
Done-in-a-Day
“Done in a Day” projects are one-day service initiatives designed to address specific, short-term needs within the Concho Valley. These projects provide the Junior League of San Angelo the flexibility to support a wide range of local causes and organizations that may not require ongoing assistance but can benefit greatly from a single day of volunteer support.
Through this initiative, our members participate in a variety of impactful efforts throughout the year. We host a back-to-school shopping event for residents of the West Texas Boys Ranch and the Concho Valley Home for Girls, organize the Bold & Brave: Self-Defense & Wellness Workshop to empower young women, and regularly volunteer at nonprofit events across the community. Each project allows us to respond quickly and meaningfully to evolving community needs, while giving our members the opportunity to serve without a long-term commitment.
“Done in a Day” reflects our commitment to being a responsive and active partner in the community, delivering meaningful service—one day at a time.
